PHOTOS: Symposium on IPV, Reproductive Coercion & Family Planning
On June 2, 2017, the Initiative to End Family Violence hosted a Symposium on IPV (Intimate Partner Violence), Reproductive Coercion & Family Planning. Women who experience intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion often experience barriers to family planning services and are at risk of experiencing unintended pregnancies. This symposium provided insights on the associations between intimate partner violence (IPV), reproductive coercion (RC), and unintended pregnancies, as well as facilitate collaboration between healthcare providers and family violence advocates in addressing these issues. Speakers addressed the latest epidemiological data; the role of the family planning provider in identifying family violence, birth control sabotage, and RC; dating violence and teen pregnancy; and best practice models.
